Description
Pink Perch — threadfin bream, Kilimeen in Malayalam, Sankara or Suvai in Tamil — is a mild, delicate white fish with pretty pink skin, gentle enough for the whole family.
Loved across communities
A Kerala everyday staple (as Kilimeen) and a favourite in Tamil and Sri Lankan homes. Its soft, mild flavour makes it one of the fish parents most often pick for children.
Popular dishes
The classic is a crisp kilimeen fry, alongside a mild kilimeen curry (mulakittathu) and a simple pink perch fry — light enough for an everyday meal.

Good to know
Is Pink Perch the same as Kilimeen?
Yes — Kilimeen in Malayalam (threadfin bream), also called Sankara or Suvai in Tamil. It’s the pink-skinned mild white fish.
What does pink perch taste like?
Soft, sweet and mild — one of the gentlest fish we sell, which is why it’s such a family favourite.
Does it have bones?
It has fine bones, so many families have it filleted or fry it crisp, which makes it easy for children to eat.
What’s the best way to cook it?
A crisp shallow fry or a mild coconut curry both suit it — it’s light and quick to cook.
How is it packed for delivery?
Cleaned to order, vacuum-packed in a sealed bag and sent chilled, so it arrives fresh and clean with no leaks in the box.
